Fantastic at its price point. Got a pound of wings for ten bucks, came with fries. Tasty and hot. Service was fun and friendly. Even reminded me I left my jacket on the chair. Food was hot, drinks were cold. Not a cocktail bar, but they'll mix you a drink or pour a cold beer. Ambiance, it's located in an old central Bloomington building so you get the high tin ceiling and open floor layout. Wide open space. But for the price of one and a half cocktails at a fancy place, I got away with three drinks and a meal. Wow. Definitely a workhorse establishment.
Maguire's was always the best, and is now the only, place in town to play Buzztime. Be aware: they take it seriously as they are consistently near the top of the leaderboards. Friendly bartenders, cold beer, and a pretty good menu. This is where you want to go to watch "the game."
A fantastic place to go and grab a drink with your buds (or alone, whatever). My friend asked the bartender to put on a college football game on one of the TVs, and he was told that they didn't have the right television package to get the game. No worries, we had frozen mugs of beer and place to sit. There was one server for the whole place, but she was super nice and attentive. The bartender did some investigating and discovered that he actually could put on the game we wanted to watch. We probably stayed for an extra 45 minutes because of that, I will be coming back next time I'm in the area.
This is my favorite bar in Bloomington, hands down. Great service, ALWAYS. Tremendous beer prices. AND TRIVIA. You stole my heart. My fiance and I love the trivia and it's way better here than BWW's for sure. There are tvs everywhere for the avid sports fan. The Cheers crowd midday are super nice and really welcoming and they play trivia too :) The food is great. I can't say a bad thing about Maguire's. Love it. Recommend it. :)
